Pre-Shoot Checklist

Make the most of your real estate media shoot with this simple checklist. A well-prepared home ensures the best possible images and video. Follow these quick steps to get everything ready before I arrive.

General

  • Clean all areas of the home that will be photographed
  • Turn all overhead lights and lamps on
  • Open all blinds and curtains symmetrically
  • Turn ceiling fans OFF
  • Turn TVs OFF
  • Turn computer screens OFF
  • Place shoes and jackets in closets
  • Remove toys
  • Remove pet beds, toys, food dishes, food bags

Exterior

  • Close garage doors
  • Remove cars from the front of the home
  • Mow grass, tidy landscaping
  • Remove decorative flags
  • Remove toys and sports equipment
  • Turn on water features (ponds, fountains, etc.)
  • Hide garbage and recycling bins
  • Wipe/dust patio furniture

Living and Dining Room

  • Declutter counters and tables
  • Fluff and arrange decorative pillows
  • Remove blankets unless used for staging
  • Straighten chairs around tables or islands and space evenly
  • Remove child seats/booster seats

Kitchen

  • Clean and clear countertops
  • Remove magnets, photos, lists, etc. from fridge
  • Remove dishes, cloths, sponges, soaps from sink

Bathroom

  • Clear countertops
  • Close toilet seats
  • Remove shower clutter
  • Remove dirty towels

Bedroom

  • Make beds
  • Remove personal items
  • Remove clutter from table and dresser tops
  • Tidy walk-in closets (regular closets not photographed)
